What is Engineered Hardwood Flooring?
Engineered hardwood flooring is built using multiple layers of wood that are placed in different directions and then bonded together with adhesives using intense heat and pressure. What you get is a very strong wood that isn’t affected by humidity and it won’t shrink or expand.
The average lifespan of Engineered Wood flooring is about 20 to 30 years. Unlike Solid Wood Flooring it can only be sanded 3 to 4 times due to the fact that engineered wood only has a small layer of hardwood veneer on the top. The lifespan of your wooden floor is very much dependent on the traffic and maintenance. If it is kept grit free it could be good for 50 years.
